Ledum Palustre

Classical single remedy

a puncture wound that feels cold and looks puffy yet is relieved by cold applications; the wound and the part feel cold to the touch. (Boericke)

What it’s reached for

  • a puncture from a nail, splinter, thorn or animal bite.
  • an insect bite that is puffy and better for cold — and a preventive against tetanus alongside proper medical care.

Gout / Uric-Acid Pain — Colchicum vs. Ledum vs. Benzoic Acid vs. Lycopodium vs. Urtica Urens: pain that begins in the toes and the ball of the foot and travels upward, the part feeling cold yet relieved by cold applications and made worse by the warmth of the bed.

Cuts, Wounds & First-Aid Injuries — Arnica vs. Hypericum vs. Calendula vs. Ledum vs. Bellis Perennis: puncture wounds.

Insect Bites & Stings — Apis vs. Ledum vs. Hypericum vs. Urtica Urens vs. Cantharis: mosquito and other puncture bites, and any bite where the area is puffy but feels cold and is soothed by cold applications; also used for prevention.

Potency: 30C every few hours on the day, then twice daily; always get a tetanus review for a puncture.
